Notes:
- For MySQL Unicode support a connection string can be used if your database and tables are not configured for Unicode. MySQL database connectivity is via the JDBC driver version 3.1.x.
- AssetNow is installed within the web server document root or a subdirectory of the document root. Multiple independent installations are supported on the same server and within subdirectories of the web server document directory. Each install uses its own database.
Hosting
AssetNow can be deployed on a shared hosts that meet the above requirements. Most shared hosting providers have medium and high level accounts that meet these requirements with the exception of scheduling. Scheduling is not essential and some host providers offer alternative schedulers.
To ensure the security of your content and files we recommend that you insist on a hosting provider who deploys Adobe ColdFusion Enterprise on their shared servers and not Adobe ColdFusion Standard/Professional. Many providers offer both ColdFusion Enterprise and ColdFusion Standard/Professional. ColdFusion Standard/Professional is commonly offered on lower cost accounts and typically without support for the tags listed above.
Many hosting vendors including Nexus, CrystalTech, and HostMySite provide suitable developer and professional level ColdFusion Enterprise hosting plans that support all the required tags with appropriate security.
ColdFusion Tags
AssetNow is designed to run on shared (virtual), virtual private server (VPS), and dedicated ColdFusion servers. These ColdFusion tags must be supported/enabled by your host provider to use the corresponding functionality:
| Function | ColdFusion Tag |
|---|---|
| Search |
cfsearch, cfcollection, cfdirectory, cfschedule
|
| Files / Images |
cffile, cfdirectory, cfcontent
|
Access to cfschedule
is required for scheduled indexing of the search collections. If you do not have access to cfschedule
you can manually index the search collections.
Mail Server
The ColdFusion server must have access to a mail server. AssetNow sends automated e-mail notifications. For development servers this can simply be set to http://localhost
or http://127.0.0.1
and mail messages can be recovered from the ColdFusion server mail folders. The mail server name/address and optional username and password can be added in the AssetNow NX configuration file.
Web Browser Requirements for Tools Users and Publishers
Web browser requirements are for users of the AssetNow NX tools only. AssetNow NX tools work with most popular browsers and desktop operating systems including:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and Safari web browsers.
- Windows 2000, XP or Vista. Support for right-to-left (RTL) languages such as Hebrew and Arabic is only available on Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
- OS X 10.3.9+ with Safari or Firefox.

Web Browsers Requirements for Site Visitors
AssetNow NX websites and content do not impose any special web browser requirements for visitors to your site. Developers should test their site design for correct operation and cross-browser compatibility with the appropriate web browsers.
