Advanced Metadata

Advanced metadata can be used to specify group specific metadata for a category or content page. This metadata replaces the default metadata and can be used for search engine optimization to assist in preventing duplicate content filtering.

Advanced metadata is typically used by sites that use groups to publish the same content for different locations/regional sub-sites. Sub-sites are typically configured as catgories below the site home category.

Advanced metadata can be used for search engine optimization reasons (duplicate content filtering etc.).

Advanced metadata is specified as valid XML data and entered in the Advanced metadata field using the following format:

<groups>

<group id="0">

Title for Group ID = 0

Default description for Group ID = 0

<keywords>Keywords for Group ID = 0</keywords>

</group>

<group id="40">

Title for Group ID = 40

Description for Group ID = 40

</group>

</groups>

Group ID values are determined from the groups you have setup, Group id="0" is the built-in anonymous access user group, id="40" above is an example only.

If the XML is not valid the advanced metadata is ignored and the default category or content meta data is used.

The metadata items must correspond to metadata fields set by the ancontent.metadata() method. The most common fields are shown in the above example.
